4 To: Titus, a genuine child in the faith that we share.
May grace and peace[a] from God the Father and the Messiah,[b] Jesus our Savior, be yours!
Qualifications for Leaders in the Church
5 The reason I left you in Crete was to complete what still needed to be done and to appoint elders in every city, as I myself commanded you. 6 An elder must be[c] blameless. He must be the husband of one wife[d] and have children who are believers and who are not accused of having wild lifestyles or of being rebellious.

5 The reason I left you in Crete(E) was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders(F) in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless,(G) faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
