Romans 9:29-31
New English Translation
29 Just[a] as Isaiah predicted,
“If the Lord of Heaven’s Armies[b] had not left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
and we would have resembled Gomorrah.”[c]
Israel’s Rejection Culpable
30 What shall we say then?—that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith, 31 but Israel even though pursuing[d] a law of righteousness[e] did not attain it.[f]

New International Version
29 It is just as Isaiah said previously:
“Unless the Lord Almighty(A)
had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.”[a](B)
Israel’s Unbelief
30 What then shall we say?(C) That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;(D) 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness,(E) have not attained their goal.(F)
