2 I know thy works, and thy toil and [a]patience, and that thou canst not bear evil men, and didst try them that call themselves apostles, and they are not, and didst find them false; 3 and thou hast [b]patience and didst bear for my name’s sake, and hast not grown weary. 4 But I have this against thee, that thou didst leave thy first love.

2 I know your deeds,(A) your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested(B) those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.(C) 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name,(D) and have not grown weary.
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.(E)
