Proverbs 21:13-15

Good News Translation

¹³If you refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, your own cry for help will not be heard.

¹⁴If someone is angry with you, a gift given secretly will calm him down.

¹⁵When justice is done, good people are happy, but evil people are brought to despair.

Proverbs 21:13-15

New International Version

¹³Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor
will also cry out^(A) and not be answered.^(B)

¹⁴A gift given in secret soothes anger,
and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.^(C)

¹⁵When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous
but terror to evildoers.^(D)
