³³ So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, ³⁴ saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and ^(A)has appeared to Simon!” ³⁵ And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was ^[a]known to them in the breaking of bread.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples^(B)

^36 (C)Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” ³⁷ But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen ^(D)a spirit. ³⁸ And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. ^(E)Handle Me and see, for a ^(F)spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

^40 [b]When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. ⁴¹ But while they still did not believe ^(G)for joy, and marveled, He said to them, ^(H)“Have you any food here?”

^51 (A)Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

^2 (A)until the day in which ^[a]He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit ^(B)had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, ^3 (C)to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many ^[b]infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

The Holy Spirit Promised

^4 (D)And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have ^(E)heard from Me; ^5 (F)for John truly baptized with water, ^(G)but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” ⁶ Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” ⁷ And He said to them, ^(H)“It is not for you to ^(I)know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. ^8 (J)But you shall receive power ^(K)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and ^(L)you shall be ^[c]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and ^(M)Samaria, and to the ^(N)end of the earth.”

Jesus Ascends to Heaven^(O)

^9 (P)Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, ^(Q)He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
