6 The Israelites took their daughters as wives for themselves, gave their own daughters to their sons, and worshiped their gods.(A)
Othniel, the First Judge
7 The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; they forgot the Lord their God(B) and worshiped the Baals and the Asherahs. 8 The Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He sold them to[a] Cushan-rishathaim[b] king of Aram-naharaim,[c](C) and the Israelites served him eight years.

7 The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord(C) their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.(D) 8 The anger of the Lord burned against Israel so that he sold(E) them into the hands of Cushan-Rishathaim(F) king of Aram Naharaim,[a](G) to whom the Israelites were subject for eight years.
