³And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

³But when the inhabitants of ^(A)Gibeon ^(B)heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

⁷The Israelites said to the Hivites,^(A) “But perhaps you live near us, so how can we make a treaty^(B) with you?”

⁷And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

⁷Then the men of Israel said to the ^(A)Hivites, “Perhaps you dwell among us; so ^(B)how can we make a covenant with you?”
