²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life^(A) in himself. ²⁷ And he has given him authority to judge^(B) because he is the Son of Man.

⁵ And hope^(A) does not put us to shame, because God’s love^(B) has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit,^(C) who has been given to us.

⁶ You see, at just the right time,^(D) when we were still powerless,^(E) Christ died for the ungodly.^{(F) 7} Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking,^(A) but of righteousness, peace^(B) and joy in the Holy Spirit,^(C)

²² But the fruit^(A) of the Spirit is love,^(B) joy, peace,^(C) forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

²³ gentleness and self-control.^(A) Against such things there is no law.^(B)

⁴ In him was life,^(A) and that life was the light^(B) of all mankind.

¹³ children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.^(A)
