15 “For behold, I have made you small among the nations,
Despised among people.
16 As for the terror you cause,
The arrogance of your heart has deceived you,
You who live in the clefts of [a]the (A)rock,
Who occupy the height of the hill.
Though you make your nest as (B)high as an eagle’s,
I will (C)bring you down from there,” declares the Lord.
17 “Edom will become an (D)object of horror; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and will [b](E)hiss at all its wounds. 18 Like the (F)overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors,” says the Lord, “(G)no one will live there, nor will [c]anyone of mankind reside in it. 19 (H)Behold, one will come up like a lion from the (I)thicket of the Jordan to a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will chase him away from it, and I will appoint over it whoever is (J)chosen. For who is (K)like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And who then is the shepherd (L)who can stand against Me?”
20 Therefore hear the (M)plan of the Lord which He has planned against Edom, and His purposes which He has in mind against the inhabitants of Teman: they will certainly drag them off, even the little ones of the flock; He will certainly make their pasture (N)desolate because of them.

who occupy the heights of the hill.
Though you build your nest(C) as high as the eagle’s,
from there I will bring you down,”
declares the Lord.
17 “Edom will become an object of horror;(D)
all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff
because of all its wounds.(E)
18 As Sodom(F) and Gomorrah(G) were overthrown,
along with their neighboring towns,”
says the Lord,
“so no one will live there;
no people will dwell(H) in it.

15 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the Lord.
17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the Lord, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
