25 Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, always living to make intercession for them.

26 For such a Kohen Gadol was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need to offer up sacrifices day by day like those other kohanim g’dolim—first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people.[a] For when He offered up Himself, He did this once for all. 28 For the Torah appoints as kohanim g’dolim men who have weakness; but the word of the oath,[b] which came after the Torah, appoints a Son—made perfect forever.

Yeshua, Mediator of a Better Covenant

Now here is the main point being said. We do have such a Kohen Gadol, who has taken His seat at the right hand[c] of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens. He is a priestly attendant of the Holies and the true Tent—which Adonai set up, not man.

  1. Hebrews 7:27 cf. Lev. 6:9-13; 16:11, 15.
  2. Hebrews 7:28 cf. Ps. 110:4(109:4 LXX).
  3. Hebrews 8:1 cf. Ps. 110:1(109:1 LXX).

25 Therefore he is able to save(A) completely[a] those who come to God(B) through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.(C)

26 Such a high priest(D) truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners,(E) exalted above the heavens.(F) 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices(G) day after day, first for his own sins,(H) and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all(I) when he offered himself.(J) 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness;(K) but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son,(L) who has been made perfect(M) forever.

The High Priest of a New Covenant

Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest,(N) who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,(O) and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle(P) set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

Footnotes

  1. Hebrews 7:25 Or forever

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
