Endure hardship as God’s discipline and rejoice that He is treating you as His children, for what child doesn’t experience discipline from a parent? But if you are not experiencing the correction that all true children receive, then it may be that you are not His children after all.

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(C) For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline(D)—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
