6 for whom the Lord loves, he chastens and scourges everyone whom he receives as a son.
7 If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?
8 But if ye are without chastisement, of which all the sons are partakers, then ye are bastards, and not sons.

6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,(A)
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a](B)
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(C) For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline(D)—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
