Hebrews 12:6-8

6 For the one whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He whips[a] every son whom He accepts” [Prov 3:11-12].
God Is Dealing With You As Sons
7 You are enduring[b] [your trials] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers[c], then you are illegitimate[d] children and not sons.

New International Version
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,(A)
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a](B)
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(C) For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline(D)—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
