Hebrews 12:5-7
Modern English Version
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons:
“My son, do not despise the discipline from the Lord,
nor grow weary when you are rebuked by Him;
6 for whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
and scourges every son whom He receives.”[a]
7 Endure discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?

New International Version
5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart(A) when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,(B)
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a](C)
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(D) For what children are not disciplined by their father?
