Hebrews 12:5-7
Disciples’ Literal New Testament
And Have You Forgotten That God Disciplines Those He Loves?
5 And have[a] you completely-forgotten[b] the exhortation which speaks[c] to you as sons?: “My son, do not be thinking-lightly[d] of the discipline[e] of the Lord, nor losing-heart while being rebuked by Him. 6 For the one whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He whips[f] every son whom He accepts” [Prov 3:11-12].
God Is Dealing With You As Sons
7 You are enduring[g] [your trials] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart(A) when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,(B)
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a](C)
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(D) For what children are not disciplined by their father?
