4-5 The serpent told the Woman, “You won’t die. God knows that the moment you eat from that tree, you’ll see what’s really going on. You’ll be just like God, knowing everything, ranging all the way from good to evil.”

When the Woman saw that the tree looked like good eating and realized what she would get out of it—she’d know everything!—she took and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate.

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.(A) “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,(B) knowing good and evil.”

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable(C) for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,(D) who was with her, and he ate it.(E)
