²⁰So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city^(A) to speak to the men of their city.

²⁰And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,

²⁰And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the ^(A)gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:

⁴His children^(A) are far from safety,^(B)
crushed in court^(C) without a defender.^(D)

⁴His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

⁴His sons are ^(A)far from safety,
They are crushed in the gate,
And ^(B)there is no deliverer.
