Exodus 12:26-28
Easy-to-Read Version
26 When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing this ceremony?’ 27 you will say, ‘This Passover is to honor the Lord, because when we were in Egypt, he passed over the houses of Israel. He killed the Egyptians, but he saved the people in our houses.’”
Then the people bowed down and worshiped the Lord. 28 The Lord had given this command to Moses and Aaron, so the Israelites did what the Lord commanded.

New International Version
26 And when your children(A) ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover(B) sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’”(C) Then the people bowed down and worshiped.(D) 28 The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded(E) Moses and Aaron.
