39 For the promise was made to you and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God will call.
40 And with many other words he bore witness and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation. 41 Then those who gladly received his preaching were baptized, and the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls.
