and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us, [a](A)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed (B)from heaven (C)with [b]His mighty angels (D)in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who (E)do not know God, and to those who (F)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Then (C)the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take (D)the scroll which is open in the hand of the angel who (E)stands on the sea and on the land.” And I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little scroll. And he *said to me, “(F)Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.

Then the voice that I had heard from heaven(D) spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll(E) that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”

So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a](F) 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth,(G) but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour.
