2 Samuel 18:17-19
New Life Version
17 They took Absalom and threw him into a deep hole among the trees, and set many stones over him. And all Israel ran away, every one to his own home. 18 While Absalom was alive, he had set up stones in his honor in the King’s Valley. For he said, “I have no son to let my name be remembered.” So he called the stones after his own name. And they are there to have Absalom be remembered to this day.

19 Then Zadok’s son Ahimaaz said, “Let me run and bring the king news that the Lord has saved him from those who hate him.”

New International Version
17 They took Absalom, threw him into a big pit in the forest and piled up(A) a large heap of rocks(B) over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled to their homes.
18 During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley(C) as a monument(D) to himself, for he thought, “I have no son(E) to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.

19 Now Ahimaaz(F) son of Zadok said, “Let me run and take the news to the king that the Lord has vindicated him by delivering him from the hand of his enemies.(G)”
