⁵ A mouth was given to him ^(A)speaking ^[a]arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for ^(B)forty-two months was given to him. ⁶ And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, ^(C)those who dwell in heaven.

⁷ It was also given to him to ^(D)make war with the ^[b]saints and to overcome them, and authority was given to him over ^(E)every tribe, people, language, and nation. ⁸ All who ^(F)live on the earth will worship him, everyone ^(G)whose name has not been ^[c]written ^(H)since the foundation of the world in the ^(I)book of life of ^(J)the Lamb who has been slaughtered. ^9 (K)If anyone has an ear, let him hear. ^10 (L)If anyone ^[d]is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; ^(M)if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is ^(N)the ^[e]perseverance and the faith of the ^[f]saints.

¹⁶ And he causes all, ^(A)the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, ^[a]to be given a ^(B)mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, ¹⁷ and he decrees that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the ^(C)mark, either ^(D)the name of the beast or ^(E)the number of his name.
