⁹ Love must be sincere.^(A) Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.^(B)

⁶ in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit^(A) and in sincere love;^(B)

⁸ I am not commanding you,^(A) but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others.

¹⁸ Dear children,^(A) let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.^(B)
