25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish,(A) but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.(B) 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs,(C) which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

39 Then the Lord(A) said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.(B) 40 You foolish people!(C) Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor,(D) and everything will be clean for you.(E)

42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth(F) of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.(G) You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(H)

43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(I)

44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves,(J) which people walk over without knowing it.”
