⁷ “They sow the wind
    and reap the whirlwind.^(F)
The stalk has no head;
    it will produce no flour.^(G)
Were it to yield grain,
    foreigners would swallow it up.^(H)
8 Israel is swallowed up;^(I)
    now she is among the nations
    like something no one wants.^(J)

²⁶ You have lifted up the shrine of your king,
    the pedestal of your idols,^(A)
    the star of your god^[a]—
    which you made for yourselves.

²⁷ Therefore I will send you into exile^(A) beyond Damascus,”
    says the Lord, whose name is God Almighty.^(B)
