11 Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will bring on them a disaster(A) they cannot escape.(B) Although they cry(C) out to me, I will not listen(D) to them. 12 The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense,(E) but they will not help them at all when disaster(F) strikes. 13 You, Judah, have as many gods(G) as you have towns;(H) and the altars you have set up to burn incense(I) to that shameful(J) god Baal are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’

14 “Do not pray(K) for this people or offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen(L) when they call to me in the time of their distress.

15 He said to me, “Do you see this, son of man? You will see things that are even more detestable than this.”

16 He then brought me into the inner court(A) of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar,(B) were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun(C) in the east.(D)

17 He said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a trivial matter for the people of Judah to do the detestable things(E) they are doing here? Must they also fill the land with violence(F) and continually arouse my anger?(G) Look at them putting the branch to their nose! 18 Therefore I will deal with them in anger;(H) I will not look on them with pity(I) or spare them. Although they shout in my ears, I will not listen(J) to them.”
