¹¹ Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will bring on them a disaster^(A) they cannot escape.^(B) Although they cry^(C) out to me, I will not listen^(D) to them. ¹² The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense,^(E) but they will not help them at all when disaster^(F) strikes. ¹³ You, Judah, have as many gods^(G) as you have towns;^(H) and the altars you have set up to burn incense^(I) to that shameful^(J) god Baal are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’

¹⁴ “Do not pray^(K) for this people or offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen^(L) when they call to me in the time of their distress.

¹⁵ He said to me, “Do you see this, son of man? You will see things that are even more detestable than this.”

¹⁶ He then brought me into the inner court^(A) of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar,^(B) were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun^(C) in the east.^(D)

¹⁷ He said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a trivial matter for the people of Judah to do the detestable things^(E) they are doing here? Must they also fill the land with violence^(F) and continually arouse my anger?^(G) Look at them putting the branch to their nose! ¹⁸ Therefore I will deal with them in anger;^(H) I will not look on them with pity^(I) or spare them. Although they shout in my ears, I will not listen^(J) to them.”
