¹² For our offenses^(A) are many in your sight,
    and our sins testify^(B) against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
    and we acknowledge our iniquities:^(C)
13 rebellion^(D) and treachery against the Lord,
    turning our backs^(E) on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,^(F)
    uttering lies^(G) our hearts have conceived.
¹⁴ So justice^(H) is driven back,
    and righteousness^(I) stands at a distance;
truth^(J) has stumbled in the streets,
    honesty cannot enter.

¹³ Only acknowledge^(A) your guilt—
    you have rebelled against the Lord your God,
you have scattered your favors to foreign gods^(B)
    under every spreading tree,^(C)
    and have not obeyed^(D) me,’”
declares the Lord.

⁷ Although our sins testify^(A) against us,
    do something, Lord, for the sake of your name.^(B)
For we have often rebelled;^(C)
    we have sinned^(D) against you.
⁸ You who are the hope^(E) of Israel,
    its Savior^(F) in times of distress,^(G)
why are you like a stranger in the land,
    like a traveler who stays only a night?
⁹ Why are you like a man taken by surprise,
    like a warrior powerless to save?^(H)
You are among^(I) us, Lord,
    and we bear your name;^(J)
    do not forsake^(K) us!
