²⁰ You intended to harm me,^(A) but God intended^(B) it for good^(C) to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.^(D)

¹¹ So they put slave masters^(A) over them to oppress them with forced labor,^(B) and they built Pithom and Rameses^(C) as store cities^(D) for Pharaoh.

¹² But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites

⁵ “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent^(A) away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.^[a]

⁶ My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back^(A) to this land. I will build^(B) them up and not tear them down; I will plant^(C) them and not uproot them.

³⁷ I will take note of you as you pass under my rod,^(A) and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.^(B)
