² After they set out from Rephidim,^(A) they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.^(B)

²⁰ Teach them his decrees and instructions,^(A) and show them the way they are to live^(B) and how they are to behave.^(C)

²³ If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.”

¹⁸ When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai,^(A) he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone^(B) inscribed by the finger of God.^(C)
