Job 20:23-29

New International Version

²³ When he has filled his belly,^(A)
    God will vent his burning anger^(B) against him
    and rain down his blows on him.^(C)
24 Though he flees^(D) from an iron weapon,
    a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.^(E)
25 He pulls it out of his back,
    the gleaming point out of his liver.
Terrors^(F) will come over him;^(G)
26     total darkness^(H) lies in wait for his treasures.
A fire^(I) unfanned will consume him^(J)
    and devour what is left in his tent.^(K)
27 The heavens will expose his guilt;
    the earth will rise up against him.^(L)
28 A flood will carry off his house,^(M)
    rushing waters^[a] on the day of God’s wrath.^(N)
29 Such is the fate God allots the wicked,
    the heritage appointed for them by God.”^(O)
